Choosing an adviser is about more than a rate quote. You need to know who you’ll deal with, which options are being considered and what happens next. I’m Eddie Biesenbach, the adviser behind Best Mortgages. I’m based in Tauranga and bring more than 20 years of lending experience.
I became a mortgage broker because I wanted to focus on mortgages and help my clients consider a range of lenders. I offer a personal service with clear explanations and flexible appointments. Here is what that means when I work with you.
Preparation before the lender application
I look at your position with you before an application goes to a lender. If you are ready to apply, I help you prepare the information. If you need more time, I can help you make a plan rather than rush an application.
I’ve worked with clients for more than a year while they built a deposit or improved how they managed their accounts. Starting early can be useful even when buying is still some way off. It helps identify what needs attention, without pretending an approval is guaranteed.

A Tauranga base, with flexibility to meet
I’m based in Tauranga and work with clients around the Bay of Plenty. We can arrange an appointment at home, at work or online, including after hours by arrangement. Tell me what works for you and we’ll agree a time and place.
The useful conversation is about your own circumstances and the property you’re considering. Local context can help us identify questions, but it does not replace the lender’s assessment or property, legal and insurance checks with the appropriate professionals.
Whether you are in Papamoa, Mount Maunganui, Pyes Pa or elsewhere, you can start by explaining the plan. Online meetings are also available for clients elsewhere in New Zealand.

I compare suitable options from the banks and non-bank lenders I work with. I consider the rate, fees, repayment flexibility and structure, and how the loan fits your plans. I explain the reasons for a recommendation so you can understand the trade-offs before choosing how to proceed.
One-to-one support through the purchase
You work directly with me as I help prepare the application and deal with lender questions. I particularly enjoy helping first-home buyers understand how the lending steps fit with the purchase. I can liaise about mortgage-related steps with your agent, builder or lawyer where needed, while they provide their own specialist advice.
Mobile and online appointments
I offer mobile and online appointments, with after-hours meetings by arrangement. I’ll agree a time and place with you that fits your circumstances. There is no need to travel to a branch simply to have the initial conversation with me.
Clear costs and realistic expectations
For most standard home loans, there is usually no adviser fee because the lender pays a commission. Any adviser fee that applies is explained upfront. I can help you prepare and consider suitable options, but I can’t guarantee an approval, a particular rate or a fixed turnaround time.
Practical help when you are not ready yet
If the deposit, documents or account conduct need attention, I can help you work on those things before applying. If a lender has already declined you, I can review the reasons and whether another option may be suitable. The useful next step is not always another application straight away.
Support after the first mortgage
My work does not stop with the initial loan. You can come back when you need to refix, consider a top-up, buy again or work through another mortgage question. I can help you review whether the current arrangements still fit and explain the costs and implications of any change.
